Story

One vacation day in November of 2009, Austin (11) and Jordan (9) Walker found themselves bored while at Ginger’s Island, mom’s swim and resort apparel company.  To entertain themselves they started tying excess bikini straps they found in the sew room trash bin to create large colorful rubber band like bands to hit targets with.  Driving their mom crazy, she requested that they stop playing around and start reading their books.  They did as told, however, Jordan placed one of his bands on his wrist while reading and Austin after reading wrapped the band around his book to mark his page place.

One of mom's customers said she would buy some for her grandchildren when she saw the colorful band on the book, so the boys, mom and her staff quickly added their extra touch with charms, personalized alpha crystals and made it adjustable to fit any book size and...  the BookBand was born!     The next month they sold over 2,000 bands at school and church holiday boutiques.  The boy’s older brother Colton (14) suggested they donate a percentage of profits to a charity that helped kids read, so they did some research and found an awesome charity to promote and support!

TheYear Book Band evolved several months later when Colton graduated from middle school.  He used his school colors, falcon mascot for the charm and they created custom charms that stated sports and clubs he did for the year.  The boys soon came up with the idea of selling these types of bands to fundraise.  The company now works with several public and private schools across the country to fundraise for ASB and Yearbook club programs.
